Zaevion Quintral Hill pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Shyanne Crawford’s killing. The court imposed life split — 15 years in DOC, then lifetime supervision — plus five years firearm concurrent. Day-one TV covered the arrest. A Facts First desk search through Sept. 24, 2026, found no charge, plea or sentence story. Nobody covered the conviction.

What the sentence means

The court imposed a life sentence on second-degree murder as a split: the first 15 years are to be served in the Department of Corrections, then the life term continues as DOC supervision for life. The firearm count is five years in DOC, concurrent with the murder prison time, so it does not stack extra years onto the 15. Court minutes note credit for time served. DOC’s public offender card lists reception at Allen Gamble Correctional Center on June 3, 2026, and does not show a projected release date.

Timeline

WhenWhat the record shows
Aug. 23, 2025 Crawford shot and killed at a residence at 1530 NE 20th St., Oklahoma City. OKCPD Homicide #48 of 2025 (Incident 2025-0061883) named both Crawford and Hill; police said they appeared to have been together inside when she was shot. Hill was booked into Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention on a murder complaint.
Aug. 23–25, 2025 Day-one coverage: News 9, KOCO, Fox 25, Channel 2 and Free Press reported the arrest. Outlets withheld the suspect’s name. KOCO wrote that it had not released suspect information “because formal charges haven’t been filed.” A KOCO memorial piece quoted Master Sgt. Gary Knight: motive and how it happened were “completely unclear”; police were “still working to determine if the shooting was intentional.”
Sept. 2, 2025 Oklahoma County prosecutors filed adult felony case CF-2025-4096, State v. Zaevion Quintral Hill — Murder 1st Degree. Bond set at $10 million. Appearances noted in custody at juvenile detention.
April 9, 2026 Murder 1st dismissed at the State’s request. Guilty plea to Murder 2nd Degree — Life S/S with first 15 years DOC. Guilty plea to firearm count — 5 years DOC, concurrent. Victim-impact hearing set April 16, 2026.

What was missing

Desk search of News 9, KOCO, Fox 25, Channel 2, Free Press, The Oklahoman, KGOU and KFOR from Aug. 25, 2025, through Sept. 24, 2026, found no metro story on the Sep. 2 filing, the April 9 plea, or the sentence tied to Crawford.

  • No Oklahoma County District Attorney press release located for the filing (September 2025) or the plea/sentence (April 2026).
  • The county’s April 2026 DA news archive had no homicide press items.
  • Contrast: the same DA office issued a named release in the Lyric Lewis / Harkins Theater case (adult co-defendant Devin Stallings, CF-2025-3476). News 9 later named Warren Colbert once he was charged and set for arraignment in the Wyndham Grand security-guard killing.

What the record supports

Supported explanation — not a rant Stations said they were waiting for formal charges. The DA sent no tip sheet when charges were filed or when the plea was entered. A public OSCN adult felony docket existed from Sept. 2, 2025, onward and was not covered. The court trail did not go cold. The news and official-messaging trail did.
Also on this desk Hill’s conviction is carded on Local murders. The metro juvenile-arrest roundup that includes this case: OKC & Norman juvenile homicide arrests and school guns.
