At least 7 juveniles arrested in OKC and Norman homicide cases since March 2025; 5 students held after guns found at school
At least seven juveniles have been arrested on murder complaints or charged with murder, and at least five students were taken into custody after guns were found at school, in Oklahoma City and Norman between March 1, 2025, and Sept. 24, 2026, according to police releases, a district attorney’s release, court records and news reports reviewed by Facts First.
Time frame: March 1, 2025, through Sept. 24, 2026. Counts include only cases inside Oklahoma City or Norman city limits with a suspect under 18 at the time of the offense. One of the seven (Zaevion Quintral Hill) has since been convicted as an adult; the arrest count still includes that case.
| Oklahoma City | Norman | Combined | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Juveniles arrested on murder complaints or charged with murder | 6 | 1 | 7 |
| Students taken into custody after guns found at a K-12 school | 2 (1 incident) | 3 (2 incidents) | 5 (3 incidents) |
Public sources confirm adult felony murder charges in two of the seven homicide cases (Hill and Colbert). Hill pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on April 9, 2026. The other five were reported as arrests or bookings on murder complaints. Juvenile court records are confidential. The school count reflects publicly reported cases only.
Increase or more reporting?
The available records do not settle it.
- OSBI’s Crime in Oklahoma reports list statewide murder arrestees under 18 as 22 (2021), 20 (2022), 22 (2023) and 26 (2024). OSBI has not yet published a 2025 report.
- Statewide under-18 weapon-law arrests rose from 270 (2021) to 337, 422 and 450 (2024), according to OSBI. These arrests are not school-specific.
- Office of Juvenile Affairs referrals were 7,829 (2022), 8,971 (2023) and 9,072 (2024). OJA’s 2025 age and sex tables add up to 8,543, but the report’s headline figure is 9,072. Youthful offenders numbered 205, 220, 231 and 241. OJA does not break out gun or homicide offenses.
- The latest federal count of Oklahoma students with firearms at school is 35 (2021-22). From 2011-12 to 2021-22, the yearly count ranged from 20 to 41. District-level totals were not found.
- Oklahoma City recorded 91 homicides in 2021, 78 in 2024 and 74 in 2025, according to Mayor David Holt via KFOR.
Neither OKCPD nor Norman PD publishes homicide arrests by age over multiple years, so this 18-month count cannot be compared with earlier periods. Three metro homicide arrests of juveniles in September 2026 drew public comment from District Attorney Vicki Behenna. Four of the seven in-city cases took place in 2025.
